Mayor Mirko Ćurić said the City’s record budget of KM 78,853,000 should be read through its structure: a large part of the increase consists of strictly earmarked funds tied to specific projects, including about KM 6 million for the Health Centre carried over from the previous year. The City’s current debt level is about 9%, against a legal maximum of 18%, and it meets all its obligations on time.
Projects to be financed from loans include the redevelopment of the square in the Gorica neighbourhood, with KM 500,000 planned — a modernised market, new parking, tree-lined avenues, green spaces and a fountain.
The City has also asked the Government of Republika Srpska to support the renewal of squares and the historic centre, a new landfill and remediation of the existing one (requiring about KM 16 million), road infrastructure towards Novo Trebinje, a residential building for professionals in short supply (about KM 5 million) and two new fire engines.
