Work has officially begun in Volujac on the first phase of cutting the route of the access road to Novo Trebinje, roughly four kilometres long. The road will be built in phases, from Zasad Polje to the Novo Trebinje site, and a bridge over the Trebišnjica will be built by HET. Cutting the entire route is expected to take about three years.
The first phase is estimated at around KM 3.5 million, with HP Investing of Mostar as the contractor. This phase covers two traffic lanes, followed by storm drainage, asphalt and lighting; under the framework agreement it is to be completed within a year at most. It is financed from City of Trebinje loan funds.
Mayor Mirko Ćurić announced that around 2,700 housing units will be built on one-eighth of the planned Novo Trebinje area, which is expected to have around 25,000 residents. Rather than selling land to investors, the City wants to build in partnership with them and offer residents flats at preferential prices. A call for the design and construction of a Congress Centre was also announced, and a kindergarten and primary school are planned with Government support.
